Super 8 by Wyndham Nebraska City

The room was clean, comfortable, and smelled freshly cleaned. I slept well after checking in late following a long travel day. The gentleman at the desk was kind and accommodating, and even made sure there would be enough biscuits at breakfast. The lady at the desk was welcoming too. I complimented her and she was genuinely touched, since she said guests often focus on complaints. It was a nice reminder that a little kindness matters. Breakfast was tidy and well stocked with two cereals, biscuits and gravy, a waffle maker, bagels, instant oatmeal, milk, tea, and coffee. I did notice there was no butter for the bread. The staff are working hard through renovations and the challenges of past flooding, despite limited resources and the owner not being present. The property is in a flood zone, which is why I rated it 4/5. This isn't a five-star resort, but for a budget stay with clean rooms, friendly staff, and a safe place to rest, it worked well. I appreciate the team's warmth and effort.

The room seemed clean, and it had shampoo and towels. It was adequate, and honestly not that bad, but I did get what I paid for since this was the cheapest hotel around. There was no elevator, so I had to haul my suitcases up the stairs. The sparse breakfast and cigarette smell in the room weren't great, and I banged my knee on the bed frame's sharp, protruding edge three times.

The place was clean and affordable, and the employees were very helpful. We’re moving to Florida in a U-Haul and were having trouble parking it. The gentleman at the front desk took over and parked it for us without us even asking. They really go above and beyond.

I reserved the room with my credit card but told them I’d pay cash at checkout. At check-in around 9:20 pm, I was told the total was $74.68. In the morning I saw a $126 deduction from my checking account. The woman at the desk agreed it was wrong and said the manager, due in at 6, could fix it. I showed the short, bald manager with tattoos the receipt he printed, which listed $74.68, and tried to show him the deduction. He said he didn't care what had been taken from my account and brushed me off. He refused my cash, saying the room had been charged to my credit card, then blamed me for not saying at check-in that I would pay cash. I told him I had. He said he couldn't change it. My room went from $74 to $126. I want people to know they may charge more to your card and refuse cash, leaving you paying more.
