Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Petersburg-Dinwiddie by IHG

The room was quiet on Friday night, and the beds were comfortable, though the pillows were small and flat and could use replacing. Our two queen room was clean and had four pillows on each bed. The bathroom door barely cleared the toilet when it opened, but the shower and soaps were good. Ice was only available on level 2, so machines on every floor would help. The pool was closed for October. Check-in and checkout were easy, and staff had good customer service attitudes. Thanks to Ms. Nita. The lobby chairs and bathrooms were decent, parking seemed okay, and Waffle House and Burger King are an easy walk away. The hotel is close to the interstate exit, so I still recommend locking your car. Breakfast is free from 6 to 9, but I slept too late to get any. At least the coffee machine runs all day. They encourage IHG Club membership to get the lowest rates, so rooms cost more for nonmembers. Rooms do fill to capacity, so booking ahead is smart. I walked in without a reservation and luckily got a room, but couldn't choose things like a king bed or suite.

Danii was especially kind and helpful, listening to what I needed and going out of her way to make sure I had a good stay. The staff were friendly, and the hotel was neat and clean. I had a great time and would recommend checking it out.

The staff clearly keep a close eye on things, and the training shows. Someone always seemed to be mopping or wiping something down, and they even let me check out 30 minutes late. The hotel was clean, orderly, and quiet, with excellent customer service. I would stay again when I'm in the area. It's conveniently close to shopping, restaurants, and plenty of churches, though set a little off the beaten path. The price worked for us. Breakfast was the usual processed, carb-heavy hotel fare. They charged an incident fee, which I hadn't encountered before, but since I caused no damage, it should be returned. The place seems busy, including with repeat trucker guests.

I won't book here after trying to call. I called five times and it just rang and rang. When someone finally answered, I heard excuses that the ringer was off or they'd only just noticed the flashing light. Then they said they were busy and asked me to get to my question. They did answer, but first said they couldn't hear or understand me, even though I speak good English. That was poor service before I had even stayed there. What has guest service come to?
