Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Petoskey

The bathroom doors were the only real downside. They were barn doors and didn't seal in either of our group's rooms, which felt uncomfortable for our mixed group. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Jacob, and the hot breakfast was a nice way to start the day. Great spot for skiing.

We ended up spending Christmas night here without a reservation, and Joe at the front desk welcomed us warmly and found us a great rate. My boyfriend and I had both recently lost a parent, his father and my mother, and we wanted a change of scenery even though home was only an hour and twenty minutes away. The lobby and dining room were decked out for Christmas, with a glowing fireplace and a beautiful tree. Our room was comfortable, the pool and jacuzzi were great, and the complimentary coffee, tea, cookies, and generous breakfast were lovely. The staff were friendly, the hotel was clean and nicely decorated, and there's also a fitness room and laundry room. The front desk even gave me laundry soap for free. It felt like a charming Christmas Hallmark film. Hampton Inn & Suites is an awesome property, one of the few with views of Lake Michigan's "Little Traverse Bay." I'm forever grateful for that stay.

The rooms were clean and stocked, and the beds were comfortable. I just wish there were smaller or thinner pillows, since these were thick and big. Everyone on staff was very friendly.

I got about five hours of sleep because of the noise. My room was above the breakfast area, where a large party was gathered when I arrived, including a child who was screaming, probably from being tired. I asked whether they'd be allowed to stay there and was told the area would close because people complain about the noise. I think one parent stayed behind with the child so the rest of the party wouldn't be disturbed. Then the noise started up again at breakfast at 6 a.m. The balcony needs to be enclosed. It was a terrible architectural choice for a hotel. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it.
