Super 8 Pevely

We canceled the second night right away. The place felt shady and wasn't somewhere I'd take a family. The staff seemed like they didn't want to be there or be bothered, and weren't friendly. The whole hotel was dirty. There was construction in the "eating room," and despite the advertised "included breakfast," no real food was available. It was the worst hotel "breakfast" I've seen. The advertised fitness center was being used for storage. Our room was exceptionally dirty, with cracks from leaks in the walls and ceiling, and peeling drywall and paint. The room phone didn't work when we tried calling the front desk. The bathroom was dirty and moldy, the fixtures were rusty, and the shower head was so loose it looked ready to fall off. The sink had almost no water pressure, just a little stream, and the floors were dirty. Pictures wouldn't show how bad it was.

My family and I went to Super 8 to rest during the tornado on 4/27, around 7-7:30 pm. We watched TV for a few hours, then I noticed a bed bug in my peripheral vision. It was shocking since the reviews hadn't mentioned bed bugs. We left as soon as we found it, but the desk clerk refused to refund us. Update: the manager also refused, saying she couldn't issue the refund and that the owner had to.

We were exhausted after driving for seven hours and visiting family, so we went to bed and told the front desk in the morning. The morning staff didn't apologize at all. We should have kept driving to Festus or Arnold. I've stayed at Super 8s before and found them comfortable, even if they weren't the Hilton, but the Pevely Super 8 wasn't. There were five marijuana "roaches" on the counter when we walked in. It's legal in Missouri, so I let it go and booked the room. The elevator floor was wet and looked like it had urine on it. In our room, the floor was noticeably uneven, so we stayed away from that side. There was no water from the shower, and the sink water was brown.

The only good thing I can say is the shower had good water pressure. This hotel is also a bug infested dump. We were told there was truck parking, but once we got in, the only way out was to back out. The next morning, lots of cars were headed to the North cannabis dispensary drive-thru next door, and we were blocking its entrance while trying to back out. A crazy person got out of his car, cussed out my husband, and tried to run him over. Please stop telling people there's truck parking when there clearly isn't. This could have ended a lot worse.
