Comfort Inn & Suites Pharr - McAllen

The front desk told us we only had one night booked, and the confusion ended with us having to leave the hotel. They offered little help and took no responsibility, which was extremely frustrating. Earlier, I had ordered food through DoorDash and the driver left it at the desk as instructed, but when I went to collect it, the employee said they didn't have it. It seems to have been lost or taken while it was there. I expect better professionalism from a hotel and would like this situation reviewed and addressed.

I felt safe because there was just one way in and out of the hotel. The bed was comfortable, and breakfast was filling. The room's air felt like it came from a water cooler, though, and it was really humid.

The front desk staff were phenomenal. My husband and I had driven nine hours to visit family and stayed two nights. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, more than enough to make up for the little things. The room was typical, though the sink was outside the bathroom, and I found debris on carpet that didn't look vacuumed. There was also what I think was a thin layer of body wash in the tub. It's a two-star hotel, so I wasn't expecting a Hilton-level stay. Breakfast had eggs and sausage in a warmer, plus the usual cereal, bread and bagels, waffles, coffee, and juice. There's an outdoor pool, a hot tub, and a fitness center. It wasn't a bad stay at all, and having Laredo Taco Company right next door was a nice bonus, if you know, you know.

At $200 a night, I expected a finished room, but this place has really dropped the ball. It still has the feel of a boys' locker room, and even with dehumidifiers brought in for the humidity, there was mold on a lamp. The lobby remodel seems aimed at impressing customers, but it doesn't match the rooms, and feels like a facade. I understand budget limits, but why expect people to return with problems like these? I won't recommend it until they've put real time and effort into fixing things up.
