Comfort Suites Salt Lake City Airport

There was no hospitality or willingness to help from the person at the entrance. They refused to assist us and seemed to prefer taking $100 from us instead of helping us and making $200 with reservations. The lobby smelled very strange too. The owner or manager should rethink the employee training. I'd recommend going to the Holiday Inn next door, where people are friendly and willing to help.

The front desk girls were nice, and the airport location is hard to beat if you're using ParknJet or The Parking Spot. But the beds were hard and lumpy, and the closet door nearly fell off when I tried to open it. The smell hits you as soon as you walk in, either strong curry in a bad way or a sickening air freshener. I stayed at the Comfort Suites in Ft Lauderdale the next day and it was very nice. Maybe this place is different because it's independently owned and doesn't get much upkeep.

The shuttle was a major problem. We waited 45 minutes while two full shuttles went by, with only nine seats available, before there was room to take us to the hotel. In the morning, there's only one shuttle every two hours, so they couldn't get us to the airport at an appropriate time. The evening staff who helped us, two women and the shuttle driver, were great, and housekeeping did a good job too. But during a medical emergency, the morning desk worker refused to give me a later checkout. After our flight was canceled, he also wouldn't let my husband take the shuttle back to the hotel because we weren't staying a second night and therefore weren't “guests.” He said our canceled flight wasn't his problem. He was rude, abrasive, unhelpful, unsympathetic, and condescending, and refused to give his name for a review. We had to pay for two Ubers and sit in the lobby waiting for a ride to the hospital because we couldn't stay in our room past checkout during my medical emergency. I sincerely hope this man doesn't continue working in customer service.

I landed at 1:45 a.m. and faced a long, slow check-in line. Getting there had already taken over an hour from landing to reaching the hotel. If you're taking the shuttle, be prepared to wait. The hotel shares an arrangement with other hotels, and the shuttle goes to the west side of the airport and drops people at the Clarion before coming to the east side, where the Comfort Inn is. It doesn't matter if you've been waiting longer than someone headed to the Clarion. The shuttle system makes no logical sense. I'd recommend taking an Uber.
