The staff made the stay especially easy. The front desk gentleman switched my room so I wouldn't have to carry my suitcase upstairs while traveling alone, and the housekeeper was very helpful. Room 105 had a king bed, plenty of space, and was clean and up to date inside. The sheets and towels were fresh, and the hot water was good for a shower or bath. There was a tub, too. Breakfast was basic, with pancakes, cereal, oatmeal, banana, and coffee, but a nice extra for the price. The cool pancake machine was fun, and bottled water and sodas were available. One thing to check: close to the Georgia state line, the motel seems to use Georgia time rather than Alabama time. Breakfast ended at 9:00 AM Georgia time, which is 8:00 AM Alabama time, so ask the desk to avoid missing it. It didn't feel like a cheap motel, and the price was a good deal. Please treat the rooms with care so everyone can keep enjoying a place like this. I'd recommend it for value, comfort, and friendly service.

At checkout, the front desk woman said she wouldn't return our deposit because the room smelled of smoke, though nobody had smoked inside. She claimed she'd smelled it three times. We had gone outside twice, both times down to our vehicle. My husband said she had lied, and we had already felt suspicious because of how the man at check-in kept repeating the smoking rules. He said smoking wasn't allowed, told us smokers had to go outside with the door closed, and said he could smell smoke on us. After handing us the key, he repeated the same talk. On our way up, I saw three chipped, broken, wobbly steps and nearly fell through one. There was "activity" in the parking lot through the night, and my car alarm went off once. Expedia called the hotel while I listened quietly. The desk woman told them she'd smelled smoke on us when we arrived to check out. Expedia asked her to prove we had smoked in the room. She said she couldn't, but they still weren't getting the deposit back, then hung up. This wasn't about the lousy $50. It was the feeling of theft by deception.

I chose this place during my four day pass after graduating basic training, and on day three I'm glad I did. The employees were friendly, the beds comfortable, and the rooms clean. The AC worked great, which matters to me because I've had bad experiences trying to sleep in hotels where it didn't work. Breakfast runs from 6-9, with pancakes, oatmeal, bananas, cereal, sausage biscuits, honeybun's, coffee, and apple juice. It's not a big selection. The small drink selection includes water, Mt Dew/Mt Dew Code Red, Sunkist, and a lemon lime drink. There are two awards from 23' and 24' on the front desk wall. They are strict about no smoking, which seems to help keep the rooms clean and roach free. There was a flying roach outside, but I don't think that was due to poor cleaning. You can't really control a bug that flies, especially in a city. One could fly into your room if you leave the door open too long, but aside from that small possibility, the place isn't bad. It has what you need and the service is good.

The woman at the front desk made a huge difference from the moment I walked in. She was kind, patient, professional, and clearly cared about helping people. She goes above and beyond, and people like her are rare. She's the heart of this place and deserves a promotion and plenty of recognition.
