We hadn't even entered the room before deciding to find another hotel. I handed back the key and told the receptionist we'd changed our minds about staying at the motel. She rudely told us, "Leave the keys and get out of here!" Earlier, when we arrived around 2:15 for our two night business trip booked through Booking.com, I asked when we could check in. She angrily said 3:00 PM. We came back at 3:15, and she opened the door and treated us rudely. As we left the reception area, she came out quickly and started cursing at us.

I found urine on the mattress after checking in and getting the key, so I left right away. The manager wouldn't put the money back on my card. My earlier review was deleted, but I'm not going away. I hope people see this before they check in.

For the price, I really can't complain. We arrived just before midnight, and the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and clean, and it had the things you'd expect. It's no Ritz, but it doesn't pretend to be. If you're not too picky, this motel is just fine.

The workers were nice, but they weren't prepared. I was grateful they rushed to get me a room, though I had booked a double and they gave me a single bed. I needed that extra space for my large German shepherd, who weighs 130lbs, and I got no refund for the difference. I ended up leaving a day early. There was no hand soap or towels to dry my hands, and the doors were a problem: the room door wouldn't stay shut without the deadbolt, and the bathroom door wouldn't close either. I arrived at 3:30 pm to check in, but no room was ready. They asked me to come back an hour and a half later, which I couldn't do because I had a funeral at 4pm. They “cleaned” a room for me in 15 minutes.

The room smelled fresh and clean, the beds were comfortable, and we enjoyed watching YouTube on the smart TV. My wife and I stayed at Motel 81 during our vacation to see the April 08, 2024 solar eclipse. The motel had just come under new management and some rooms were still being renovated. We met two of the owners/people fixing up the place and were impressed by how friendly they were. They clearly care about accommodating guests and listening when something goes wrong. We hope to visit again.
