Days Inn by Wyndham Philadelphia Convention Center

We spent three nights here without a car, rideshare, bikes, or our private jet, for context. The place worked perfectly for us. It's under a 10-minute walk from Jefferson Station on the airport line, and even though we arrived after 11 p.m., the walk felt safe and quiet. We walked a lot, found it central for heading northwest to the museum or south to cultural sights, and the subway was only minutes away. Reading Terminal Market is close too. We skipped the Historic District this trip, though I'm sure we'd enjoy walking there. Our room was probably as swanky as Days Inn gets. A wall divided the space, with the bathroom and sink straight ahead and the beds on the other side. That let me get ready without the sink light waking my kid. There was a coffeemaker too, which made me happy. I didn't eat breakfast there. There wasn't much, and with Reading Terminal Market and good coffeeshops nearby, I had no interest in it. I saw other reviews mention homeless people on the streets, and yes, there were some, including people bundled up on the below-freezing nights. There's some kind of shelter nearby. I felt heartbroken seeing them, not afraid. I know others may feel differently. Nobody spoke to us, and the Days Inn door uses keycard entry. If I'm back in Philadelphia, I know where I'll stay.

We booked a wheelchair accessible room and called ahead to confirm, but on arrival the elevator was broken and we couldn't reach it. After waiting an hour, we looked at another room on the first floor. Four rooms later, the hotel concluded it had no accessible options, even once the elevator was repaired. We had to leave and find a room elsewhere at the last minute, yet we were still charged. An absolute nightmare. This hotel is not wheelchair accessible.

The location is pretty close to central Philadelphia, which was good, but I was supposed to stay three weeks and left early. The rooms were very cold because the heating kept failing. After it broke down again and again, the maintenance guy never showed up to fix it. I asked for a refund for the four days without heat, but manager Min Thu never answered my emails or calls. I found that very unprofessional.

The location was great for walking around, and my room was clean with lots of light and a tall ceiling. Breakfast was included, though the selection was a sad spread of bread, bagels, cereal, juice, and coffee. The ceiling didn't carry into the bathroom, which felt like a cave. The linens and towels were scratchy, the walls were thin, and there was a window looking into the hallway for some reason. The thermostat wouldn't go below 76 degrees. It's definitely a budget hotel, and it did the job I needed, but I wouldn't stay again.
