Lokal Hotel Fishtown

Check-in and checkout were self-service and really easy, with helpful texts and updates along the way. The rooms were clean, roomy, and stocked with what you'd need. We were close to great restaurants and the Fillmore, and the nearby train was barely noticeable. Great location.

We were here for our son's wedding and had a fabulous stay. Our two-bedroom apartment was spacious and modern, with shops and restaurants in Fishtown easy to reach on foot. The gate and entry code made the place feel very safe and secure. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and I can't wait to come back.

The neighborhood has an interesting mix of gritty and gentrifying streets, a great selection of new restaurants, and reminded me of Soho in New York in the '80s. There's an elevated train nearby, but it didn't disturb us. Light sleepers might want earplugs, though the trains rumble by less as the night goes on. Lokal in Fishtown is a quirky place with real character, the opposite of a cookie-cutter chain. Finding the right street entrance takes a close look; it could pass for a speakeasy door. Once inside with the key code, a long walkway leads toward a back garden. The rooms are reached through a door on the left before you get to the garden, with rooms on several floors starting at the first. There are stairs to the upper levels, but the steps aren't too steep to manage with luggage. The rooms are clean and elegant, with Scandinavian styling, blackout shades, and white shades that let daylight in. You can use either or both. The kitchen is beautiful, and the fridge is hidden behind wood cabinetry that matches the rest. We didn't cook, but it would suit guests who need a kitchen. The beds are Caspar, with crisp, cool cotton sheets. I slept better there than at home. The bathrooms have sleek finishes and interesting surfaces. Courtney, the off-site hotel manager, was lovely to work with and incredibly accommodating. She even helped us with on-street parking, which is challenging here and across Philadelphia. We were so glad we chose Lokal and would stay again. Highly recommend.

I stayed at Lokal in Fishtown for a couple of nights to catch a show at Johnny Brenda's. The location and look of the place were great, and the room was very clean with lots of attention to detail. I'll definitely stay here again when I'm in Philly.
