The Deacon was a beautiful, spacious place for our first staff retreat. We had room to spread out, and the space worked wonderfully for headshots and candid photos. The kitchen was stocked, and thoughtful touches were everywhere. The owners stayed in touch before, during, and after our visit. I'm so glad the dates worked out and we ended up here. I can't recommend it enough.

We booked The Deacon for the whole weekend so it could house our wedding party and close friends from out of town, and having all the events in one place made planning and logistics much easier. On Friday we held a 40-person family and rehearsal dinner with drop-off catering. Saturday was our 100-person ceremony and reception, followed by a no-RSVP bagel brunch on Sunday before we cleared out. With everyone already there, delegating little errands was easy. The space made an impression as soon as our guests walked in, and suited our vision perfectly. The ceremony and reception took place in the same room. Catering staff rearranged the furniture between them, and despite the bustle, guests never said it took away from the experience. The room was beautiful on its own; we added only flowers for the ceremony. For the cocktail-style reception, we had about 100 guests, no assigned seats, tables of different heights and sizes, and chairs for about half the guests. Food was served at stations and passed around, including the main course. We didn't have a dedicated dance floor, but a family member managed the playlist. We never felt short on space. Guests could move around, with busy pockets and quieter corners. We set up a side room with board games as a place to retreat if overwhelmed, though it turned out to be hardly needed. I'm still glad we had it. The large bedroom for the couple was luxurious and especially useful on the day. It had room for our wedding party, officiant, and photographer to get ready and take photos, and for signing the certificate. During the reception it gave us a quiet space of our own without making us feel cut off from the party. The staff were lovely, attentive, and accommodating. Elise was especially helpful from our first inquiry through check-in the day before the wedding. The Deacon worked well with all our vendors, and communication made us feel we were in good hands.

The Deacon is a converted old church with a calm, inspiring feel, and I had a wonderful three-night stay there in Philadelphia. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable for relaxing. The place blends history and character with modern comfort, and works well for a quiet, memorable stay in the heart of the city. It could also suit work trips, team events, or meeting other people. For anyone looking for a distinctive hotel in Philadelphia, it's one of the best places I've stayed.

We held a company get-together and took new team photos at The Deacon. The place is bright, beautifully designed, and spacious enough for people to work together while spreading out. It looked great in photos, too. The surrounding part of the city is lovely and easy to reach, with places nearby to get coffee or food. I'd recommend it for a distinctive event space or a photoshoot.

The Deacon gave our group a clean, well-kept gathering place for a meaningful weekend, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We came from across the country as military families for an Okinawa reunion and to honor one of our fallen soldiers, staying Friday through Sunday. The space felt warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. There was plenty of room for the kids to play games, listen to music, and watch TV without crowding everyone. The adults could cook, laugh, and reminisce together. The layout let adults and children stay connected while still having their own space. Valerie Abitbol was a huge help in finalizing the event. She was patient, responsive, and answered my questions quickly and thoroughly, making planning much easier. We're grateful to The Deacon for giving us a place to reconnect, celebrate our Okinawa bond, and remember our fallen soldier with love and laughter. We'd recommend it to large groups, military families, or anyone looking for a meaningful stay in Philadelphia.
