Walnut Plaza by Renaissance Properties

The location and view are the only good things, and the rent is cheap for a reason. There are pest and security problems, packages get stolen, and the building’s utilities are outdated. In a 12-floor building with 60 units, there’s just one working elevator. I saw mice twice in my 11th-floor apartment, running across the kitchen. One ended up dead in a trap, and I’ve seen traps in other residents’ garbage in the trash room. There was also a homeless drug user in the 12th-floor stairwell, which had blood and paraphernalia scattered around. The elevator started banging in February 2022. I told management, but nothing was done about the noise before it broke completely in July 2022. Replacing the motor took three weeks, so residents had to climb all those flights of stairs. Several of my packages have gone missing. You’d think a 60-unit building would have a doorman. USPS tries to get packages into the lobby by intercomming residents, but often leaves them out on the street.

I’ve lived here for fourteen years. The views and the neighborhood are what I love.
