The Arizona Grand Resort made a great base for our five days in the Camelback suites, overlooking the Oasis waterpark. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, and the staff were professional and amazing, from the groundskeepers and housekeeping to the gym team and lifeguards. There’s a great gym and lap pool for working out while on vacation. We could easily get to everything Phoenix has to offer, then spend hot days at the waterpark with the kids.

The water park was the big hit with our family, and the resort has plenty for adults and kids to do. The property is lovely, clean, and well cared for. Our room was comfortable, the gym had lots of space and was clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Check-in and checkout both went smoothly. The fireworks were a great way to end the night. We made such nice memories here and can’t wait to return. A fun, relaxing getaway! 😊

The lobby view over the golf course is probably what you’re paying for, because the hotel didn’t offer much else for us. We were paying over $400 a night, yet the service and concern for guests were nonexistent. I won’t stay here again or attend another conference at this hotel. We were in the Camelback building, where the dated rooms needed repairs. I could have overlooked that, but when an issue came up with my reservation through the conference organizer, the staff were no help. The manager didn’t meet me or call, and nobody communicated what was happening. They locked me out without telling me the reservation status. I missed two client meetings while retrieving my luggage and moving to another hotel. Completely unforgivable.

The pool area was the best part of our stay. My five-year-old was two inches below the height requirement for all three slides, even the spiral one, which was a real letdown since the slides were why we booked. Staff did give him a free Slurpee. We had fun in the wave pool and lazy river, and there are smaller pools and hot tubs around the resort that stay open later. Our first room had a nice balcony, but the railing gaps looked big enough for our 15-month-old to slip through. The front desk quickly moved us to a safer ground-floor room. We gave up the balcony, but appreciated how they handled it and that we could check in early. The rooms were great, and staff were helpful. You can call for a golf cart ride anywhere on the property. This is a huge, older resort, but it’s beautiful and very well maintained. Check-in was quick, with no line. The lobby was lovely, and the restaurants and dessert displays looked tempting, though the perfume smell in the lobby was overpowering. The athletic club was frustrating. No one picked up the phone, and the online pickleball booking system didn’t work. We eventually went in and paid $25 an hour for a court. Since the courts were empty, it probably should have been free, but the facility itself was beautiful. Would we return? Yes. I’d call first to ask about the slide height limits. We had a good stay overall.

We had a good time, but the cabana extras weren’t worth it. The safe and swamp cooler didn’t work, and the included cookies never arrived. Service was good in the morning, then our waitress disappeared in the afternoon and we got no help. I came away feeling a little disappointed and like I hadn’t gotten full value for the money. Next time I’d stick to the basics and skip upgrades.
