Hampton Inn & Suites Phoenix North/Happy Valley

The noise from upstairs made it hard to sleep for all three nights. We were on the 3rd floor and could hear the guests above walking or stomping. We complained to the front desk, but it didn’t stop. Maybe they weren’t being considerate, or maybe the building structure is weak. We’d expected Hampton Inn (HI) to have the same basic amenities as its sister chain, Homewood Suites (HS), where we’ve had good experiences. This suite didn’t meet those expectations, and we won’t stay at HI again. The suites need a TRUE kitchen. We were disappointed with the 2 QNS Studio Suite Non-Smoking. There weren’t even basic kitchen things for a family of 5: no bowls, spoons, plates, or trash can. The refrigerator and freezer were supposedly there, but were about microwave-sized. The freezer section was so tiny nothing would fit, and the fridge couldn’t hold a half gallon of milk or drinks. There were only two small trash cans in the whole suite.

Barbara was so nice when she checked us in, and the maid staff were friendly too. The location was convenient, just off the freeway and close to shopping, restaurants, and all kinds of stores. We had a hugely positive stay, and the noise between rooms was only a minor downside. We could hear a crying baby next door, but it never disturbed our sleep. One other small issue: the entrance door seemed wedged against its frame, so it was hard to open and made a loud crack when it did.

Nice place to stop overnight before heading to Grand Canyon. There are several stores nearby to stock up on supplies, parking is free, and the service was friendly. One towel still had visible dark makeup stains, though I do think it had been washed and was clean. I’d stay here again.

Candace, the manager, was involved and accommodating, and kept a great attitude throughout our stay. She really went above and beyond with customer service. The room was huge, and we had a great time in the jacuzzi. I love Hilton hotels and will stay here again whenever I’m in Arizona.
