Holiday Inn Express & Suites Phoenix West Tolleson by IHG

The room is great and the staff are friendly, but the coffee station is a letdown. I've stayed at 12 or more Holiday Inn Express hotels each year, and this one doesn't keep its coffee machines, tea, cups, or lids stocked and maintained. On my first night, there were no lids, only a few cups, and three Ceylon tea bags. On night two of three, both machines were out of order because the grounds needed removing. There were barely any cups or lids and just one tea bag. I'm paying much higher rates because of baseball spring training. The least they could do is keep up this area, as the Baymont I stayed at in Baymont, TX managed to do for less than $100 a night.

My room's corner lamp didn't work, but it wasn't a big deal. Zendaya checked me in and was excellent, really friendly and welcoming. The assistant manager at the desk was also a very nice, conversational guy. They said the hot tub had been down for a while, but it was back up, and I enjoyed sitting in it for half an hour. It was clean and the chemicals seemed good. Breakfast was good too, and the person running that area was friendly and easy to talk with, though I didn't get her name. Parking is free, but you need a pass for your car, which they give you at check-in.

The room was clean, though a few things needed repair, especially in the bathroom. Nothing was terrible, but the place felt a little rough around the edges. The area is noisy, with local street traffic and the 10 freeway near the 101 loop interchange. It was my first stay here, and I probably wouldn't choose to come back.

We got to the hotel at 6:45 a.m. after a long drive from Fresno, CA, and were glad to finally reach our suite with two queen beds so we could eat and rest. Check-in took a while, but we didn't get that rest. About two hours later I called the front desk about constant loud banging and running noises from the room above us. I called a second time when the noise got so bad it woke me after just one hour of sleep. Even my kids were worried and asking if something had happened. I told housekeeping when I opened the door, and they kindly went downstairs to alert the front desk. They said they could hear the banging too. The desk already knew I'd called twice, but the noise kept going. After such a long drive, all we wanted was somewhere quiet to relax, and the noise made our first day really difficult. Housekeeping was 100% great, caring, and provided amazing customer service. All the staff were friendly, but the person who checked us in wasn't much help, even when I asked for a manager.
