Ocotillo Apartments & Hotel

My family and I have stayed at the Ocotillo several times before without any trouble. After this, we won’t be coming back. I paid for a basic room with two beds, but they said they couldn’t find it and gave us a single-bed room instead. Three of us had to share that bed for the night. I couldn’t get anyone on the phone the next day when I called to arrange a fix. Eventually someone called back and said they’d move us to a two-bed room at no extra cost because it was their mistake. But at 11, they made my family leave the room and said we’d have to pay another $40 to swap to two beds. That wasn’t what we’d agreed to over the phone. They went back on their word and tried to charge us more. Absolutely not.

The manager barely got involved when my husband was hurt on the property. Even the maintenance man showed more concern. She stayed in her office and didn’t check on his well-being. A manager should take an interest in people instead of just passing information down to employees. She came across as cold and uncaring. They charge a deposit but don’t tell you that if you stay two weeks, you won’t get it back. The toilet overflowed because of their poor plumbing, and they said they were keeping the deposit over stains on the towels that the plumbing caused. Ocitillo hotels and apts was a disappointment. Don’t waste your money.

It’s clean and quiet, with plenty of good shopping and restaurants nearby. The Roku TVs are a nice touch, so you’re not stuck with basic cable and 15 channels. The A/C is great. There is an elevator, but it doesn’t work, so hope they don’t put you on the third floor. They also take a deposit, $50 for stays of 1-6 days and $100 for 7 days or more. Enjoy your stay!

The rooms were nice and clean, which was a plus, but parking was a pain. I’m disabled, and my car was parked pretty far away. I hadn’t realized how far out the place was when I booked, but it’s no big deal. I can go through LA. The motel is plain, nothing special. I also don’t get why they required a deposit. I’ve traveled before and never had to pay one. Just weird.
