We stayed at The Mountain Castle property in Hibernation Station in Pigeon Forge, TN, from June 16-22, 2024. Check-in was about an hour late because we were told the previous guests had trashed the place, which disrupted the start of our paid vacation and our plans for that day. The property was still dirty and very dusty when we got in. It looked like a rushed cleaning had been done at the expense of our safety. Shower curtains were on the floor, one room was missing a TV, and the beds had stains and unclean bedding. The hot tub hadn't been cleaned, and some lounge chairs were broken. We reported the problems, but maintenance was slow to respond, even though the crew members were friendly. The ovens didn't heat properly, the ice maker was broken, some pots and pans were old and needed replacing, and the Wi-Fi was poor for most of our stay. We were very dissatisfied with the condition in which we found the property. After six days, we left it cleaner than it had been when we arrived. I would not recommend booking unless the owner and/or property manager make changes.

When we finally got inside, about two hours after our check-in time, the cabin was filthy. Floors hadn't been swept, chairs and beds were broken, and the bedding had visible stains and hadn't been cleaned. TVs were missing from rooms, and the hot tub and other amenities needed cleaning before they could be used. The water pressure was extremely low, the Wi-Fi reception was bad, and maintenance was slow to respond when we asked for help. Very disappointing. I don't recommend booking.

The cabin looked great, but there were too many problems to make it worthwhile. The floor was uneven in many spots, roaches were infesting the place, and one refrigerator didn't work. Wi-Fi was out for half my trip, and the cable didn't work in every room. The showers only trickled and lost pressure while I was using them, and the mattress protector in my room was stained. It could be a great cabin if these things were fixed.

Roaches were everywhere in the Hibernation Hideaway, the nine-bedroom cabin in Hibernation Station. We found them in drawers, bathrooms, and on the dishes at the dining tables. On the first morning, several came out when we turned on the stove to cook bacon. Cabins For You said the cabin had been sprayed the day before and the bugs would die within 24 hours. After more appeared the next day, exterminators came and sprayed again, but that seemed to bring even more out. We bought our own can of bengal spray, which didn't stop them either. In my view, only a complete vacancy and bombing of the house will solve this infestation. The main organizer in our group spent hours on the phone calling the agents every day about the unsanitary pests. A responsible company would have kept us from checking in and moved us to acceptable accommodations. Instead, we encountered a host of other problems for the nightly price: the floor was so badly laid that even a high school shop class could have done better, two of the three ice makers didn't work, and the room linens and towels were poor, like those at an old Motel 6. There was mold on the shower tiles and curtains, and the old, overbleached sheets in room 2 were falling apart. Several TVs still didn't work on our last day despite multiple maintenance visits. Owners who care more about making money than guest safety, along with a cleaning crew that may have started the problem and exterminators who haven't dealt with it properly, need to be replaced. I would never recommend this cabin unless you don't mind sharing it with roaches.

Loved the cabin. It was stocked really well with kitchen supplies, and I liked that every bedroom had its own bathroom with a private door.
