The Dawn Treader

We had a decent stay, and six of us fit comfortably. The pool table was a lot of fun, and the hot tub was clean. Some minor problems made our first night awful, but the manager contacted us and offered 20% off a future stay plus a partial refund. People make mistakes, and owning up to them made a bad experience feel worth giving another try. We’d stay in this cabin again.

Roaches showing up late at night were the last straw. The water was slimy and smelled bad, and two people in our group had nausea and headaches. The carpet and common areas were filthy, and the tiny flat screens, about 14 inches, were barely attached to the wall. This was the grossest, worst-kept cabin I’ve ever stayed in, despite more than 12 years of visiting the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and staying at many resorts. Everything other reviewers have said is accurate. They refunded more than half of my stay and gave me 20% off a future stay, but I’ll never use it. I won’t go back to this property management resort. Reviews from two years ago already mentioned sulfur-smelling water, and it still hasn’t been fixed. The management company should be ashamed to put its name on this rental. If the owners won’t pay to repair it, they should stop renting it. It felt like a Motel 6 in cabin form. Christmas was ruined, seriously. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would.

The views were amazing, and the place was beautiful. The listing pictures matched how it looked in person. My only reason for taking off a star was the beds: the mattresses looked okay, but several bed frames or their support felt terrible. The drive up was a little nerve-racking, though the view made it worthwhile.

The view was nice, but the house could’ve been cleaner. The road to the cabin is really tight for a larger vehicle. I took a crew cab one-ton dually down there, and only one vehicle like that can fit in the driveway.
