Best Western Plus Pineville-Charlotte South

We had chosen a nonrefundable room because our previous stays had gone well, and we’re Diamond members. We’ve rarely seen conditions like this, including at the two Virginia Best Western locations we visit and enjoy when traveling south. Here, the elevator was out when we arrived, with no explanation. We were sent to a side entrance, but although our key showed a green light, the handle was broken. Upstairs, buckets lined the hallway where broken sprinkler pipes were leaking water onto the carpet. The room had mold in the bathtub hidden under caulk, a broken closet rod, peeling ceiling paint, missing prints and a mirror, and stained carpet. The bathroom floor was sticky, and the sink wouldn’t drain. Nobody offered a room change or a discount. I don’t recommend this location.

We were just passing through Charlotte, NC and wanted two rooms for one night, but left with our $400 and went elsewhere. After reading Google reviews about bugs and dirty rooms, I think we got lucky. We arrived at 1 p.m. on a weekday. Check-in wasn’t until 3, and the hotel looked nearly empty. They said we could get in early for another $20 per room. We agreed, though it seemed odd, and they repeatedly asked if we’d stay several nights. I was waiting in the lobby for my father inlaw to arrive with the card for the rooms. They quickly told me no one could wait in the lobby before checking in, then kicked me out, saying, “my boss is a tough one.” I’d explained he’d be there in about 20 minutes, and I wasn’t bothering anyone. I was a traveler waiting for my party. At other hotels, you’re welcome to sit in the lobby. Here I was expected to wait in my car or leave the property until they had my money and gave me keys. Spend your money somewhere that welcomes you with warmth and hospitality.

The staff is friendly, and the breakfast is better than average. For the price, it’s a nice place, especially with beds and pillows this comfortable. I’m staying a couple more days. If anything comes up, I’ll update this.

The hotel’s location is horrible, and it was disgusting with no hot water. At the front desk they warned me there might not be any, so I checked the room before deciding to stay. I checked out right away and was told I wouldn’t be charged and that a manager would contact me. Since December 2025, I’ve been dealing with an incorrect bill.
