Holiday Inn Express Pineville-Alexandria Area by IHG

A cockroach was the first thing we saw when we walked in. The room was damp and smelled like mold, and the sheets felt wet from the humidity. There weren't any sheets for the pullout couch, and the drawer we checked was full of someone else's clothes. The trash was full, and the shower drain was clogged, leaving standing water. It was late, so we stayed, but we won't again.

It's one of the better places to stay in Alexandria, so I'd recommend it and come back, even though the city is run down and rough and the hotel could use an update. I was there a few days for work. The rooms and bathroom were clean, breakfast had good choices, and coffee was available 24/7. The parking lot is a good size, though construction trucks and trailers fill it up. The whole hotel felt humid, which I figured was because it's in Louisiana. The gym was especially humid and sticky, with a strong chemical smell for some reason.

I stopped here on my Texas road trip and again on the way back to Florida. The staff were courteous, the rooms and hallways clean, and breakfast was good. The location was convenient, with restaurants within a ten-minute drive. Alexandria is a good place to stop and rest, especially if you're driving to avoid government shutdown airport issues.

On 5/23/2026, I went down for breakfast and noticed they hadn't cooked any bacon. I asked a young woman with red hair about it, and she said there wasn't any. About ten minutes later, she brought me some. It was really nice of her to go out of her way. Thank you!
