Inn at the Pier Pismo Beach, Curio Collection by Hilton

We spent the first half of our trip at the Seacrest, then finished at the Hilton. We wish we’d stayed the whole time at the Inn at the Pier Pismo. The staff made it a lovely stay, from the valet crew to the front desk. They remembered our celebration and asked us about it with real interest. The young men and women working here are so much better than at many other hotels in CA. The rooms are well soundproofed, and the amenities are spacious and comfortable. The rooftop bar is fun on a hot day. My only real gripe was the noisy A/C fan in the room, but that’s splitting hairs. The staff turned us into Hilton supporters.

For Valentines day, my GF and I visited and stayed in Pismo Beach for the first time. We chose Inn at the Pier and were both pleased with our handicap room. Everyone on staff was pleasant and courteous. Parking is valet only, but the gentlemen were always quick and friendly. We enjoyed our stay and had no problems.

The AC unit vibrated violently all night, like sleeping beside a construction site, and ruined my night. PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO ATTACHED. Service was non-existent, and management failed on every level. Parking costs $30 a night, yet there wasn’t even a complimentary bottle of water in the room. Shower pressure was so weak it was impossible to wash properly. When I asked for conditioner, the front desk said they were out until housekeeping came the next morning. I mentioned my early checkout, and the clerk asked if they could bring it at 6:00 AM. Asking a guest to set an alarm for basic toiletries is mind-boggling. At night the front desk was abandoned, with staff AWOL from their posts, hiding in a dark lobby corner on their phones. I recorded everything and filed a formal complaint with corporate, with the video as evidence. Management should be deeply ashamed of this dilapidated property and negligent staff. Avoid this place at all costs.

The room had a gorgeous beach view, a nice balcony, and plenty of space. The hotel is beautiful and in a great location, with easy access to Pismo beach in a quiet, touristy town. The walls are thin, though. My neighbors shouted, laughed, and screamed through the night until 5 am, waking me repeatedly. Staff called them for me, but it didn’t help, and they should have done more so guests could sleep. Then at checkout, they’d forgotten they gave me a 2 pm checkout, and I had to convince them by phone. Ridiculous. Service needs to improve.
