The repeated room problems finally convinced my client to switch hotels, and I won’t stay here again. The place was visibly dirty on all three of my stays, and the staff were rude and unprofessional. I’d tell others to avoid it. There must be more presentable places around here. On my last visit, the room clearly hadn’t been vacuumed in a while. The shower was dirty, and there were bugs in the refrigerator. I had paid for late checkout so I could rest before a long drive, but staff began knocking at 10:30 and came back four more times before checkout. I yelled that I was in the shower, but they kept pounding, so I got out to find out what was going on. She heard me answer angrily but somehow didn’t realize she was interrupting me in the shower. The earlier disruption left me so tired that I needed time to pull myself together. Around 1:35, while I was getting dressed and packing, two men came to tell me to leave right then. I answered the door dressed except for my shoes, clearly getting ready to go, and one threatened to call the police. Checkout was at 1. I’d paid for the extra time because I needed the sleep to drive safely, but after harassing me all morning they effectively took both the money and the rest. I’m not sure why they were rushing me, since after three stays in this dirt trap, I doubt they clean the rooms when guests leave anyway. The first time, the bed and bathroom were dirty. I was exhausted from a long drive, checked one bed, thought it looked clean, and went straight to sleep. I woke up with my skin breaking out. I shouldn’t have done that. Before I could eat or shower, I had to clean the room myself. On the next stay it wasn’t quite as dirty, but it looked old and dingy. The smell of weed smoke was so strong that I had a contact and fell asleep almost as if I’d been drugged. Then the remote didn’t work, so I had to change rooms anyway. A client of my company originally chose this hotel for its location and parking lot. Three stays were enough for me.

We couldn’t shower at all because there was no hot water during our stay, and we ended up checking out two hours late, starting the day cold and frustrated. I reported the problem to the desk. They said maintenance would fix it, but after 40 minutes with no response I followed up. The front desk woman checked, confirmed it, tried another room with the same problem, and said she’d send someone. Nobody came, even after we waited more than two more hours. The room wasn’t properly cleaned either. There was sticky oil or liquid on the tables, and hair on the bathroom walls and in the tub. At checkout I politely mentioned these issues, but the staff got extremely rude and yelled, asking what they could do if maintenance didn’t show, then angrily told me to hand over the keys and get lost. It was one of my worst hotel stays. Dirty rooms, no hot water the whole time, and shockingly rude service. I wouldn’t come back even if it were free. Avoid this place.

The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location. Getting around inside was a hassle: there was lots of construction, poor connectivity through the building, no elevator or luggage carts, and plenty of stairs. None of the ice machines worked, the lobby restrooms were broken and unsanitary, and the phone in our first room was dead. The tap kept dripping, the remote didn’t work, and the water was frigid almost all the time. The rooms weren’t properly cleaned. The bed headboards had stains and spills, and the beds were unusually small for a Comfort Inn. They were so squishy you’d slide off if you sat on the edge, and the pillows were lumpy and hard to use.

I won’t return, and I wouldn’t recommend this location. Anyone considering it should check the bed and room carefully before settling in. I took photos of what I found. At the Comfort Inn in Penn Hills, PA, there were obvious blue-gray stains on the bed and mattress area. They weren’t faint, and seeing them right away made me question the hygiene and whether the bedding had actually been changed. I asked the front desk to clean the room or replace the bedding. The general manager said it had already been cleaned and there was nothing they could do. A clean, sanitary bed without stains is the bare minimum at a hotel. Being brushed off when I raised a real cleanliness concern was alarming and showed no accountability. This was one of the most unsanitary hotel experiences I’ve had.

We booked two nights, but left right away to find another hotel and asked for a refund. The rooms kept being dirty and smelly, even after we reported the problems and were moved twice. The third room was no better. It had stains throughout, peeling bathroom paint, mold, and the same strong unpleasant smell. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. In the second room, the bathroom also clearly hadn’t been cleaned, with hair all over the toilet and a dirty bathtub. The first room had a very wet carpet and bed, stains, and a stinky smell. We’d already seen major renovations on the way there, with some hallways missing carpet or flooring and only dim lighting. I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Comfort Inn Conference Center. DO NOT STAY HERE!
