I've stayed in some awful places, but never anywhere worse than this. The room reeked of smoke and air fresheners, with little trees in the A/C. There were bullet holes filled with toilet paper, a crumbling bathtub, blood inside the door, and some kind of liquid splattered on the TV. The bedside lamp didn't work, the refrigerator was broken, and the smoke detector had no batteries. There were actual human feces around the toilet and on the floor. The parking lot potholes were big enough to sink a car in. I feel like I could have caught some incurable disease just walking into the room. How can this place charge $200 a night when the US Open is here? Nobody coming to play golf would choose this place. I've stayed in some terrible hotels, but next time I'd sleep in my car instead.
We spent two nights over the weekend here, after booking two nights at the hotel across the lot two days earlier. Both places were absolutely disgusting. At this one, the room was run-down and filthy. The bed hadn't been cleaned or changed, so we got fresh linens from the desk. We wiped down and disinfected all the furniture, then scrubbed the bathroom ourselves. The toilet was beyond disgusting, inside and out. Yellow dried urine covered the outside and base, and the inside looked as if it hadn't been scrubbed for months. I sprayed it with bleach, let it sit, wiped, and repeated that several times. The handicap handles and light switches left paper towels black after wiping. Crumbs and hair were in the bed, and the blankets had cigarette burns all over them. There was no way this room had been cleaned before we checked in. The manager was the same one we'd dealt with after complaining about the first hotel. She seemed miserable, which was understandable because she was overworked, but she wasn't rude. I'd seriously suggest avoiding both hotels. They need a whole new cleaning staff.
The staff were really friendly, which is why I'd give it two stars instead of one. The room was disgusting, with dead bugs and cobwebs, a broken desk, a bad smell, and curtains that were literally ripped. The sink and toilet looked like they hadn't been cleaned. The outlet by the sink didn't work either. I wouldn't stay there again even if I were paid, and I wish I could get my money back.
It's a shame how much this hotel has gone downhill. Three or four years ago, it used to be packed, but now there are barely five people staying in a night. The owner is selling it to her son, and it's supposed to be torn down soon for a bigger, nicer hotel. Even so, they shouldn't neglect the place while it's still open. If they're not going to do anything with it, they should just close instead of trying to make money from guests.
The room was filthy, with a moldy smell that gave us headaches. We left early in the morning. This level of uncleanliness is a health issue. The bathroom vent in the photos says a lot. The place clearly hadn't been thoroughly cleaned for a very long time. We were so exhausted that we stayed the night, but if we'd had the energy, we would have left then and there. When I asked for a full refund, they only wanted to give me $40. I would have been embarrassed to charge anyone to stay in that room. See the photos.
