Hampton Inn Pittsburgh/Greentree

I was relieved to leave and won’t stay here again. The whole experience was unacceptable, and I plan to file a formal complaint with Hilton corporate. For anyone considering booking, don’t. The bathroom vent blasted unadjustable cold air nonstop, and the temperature couldn’t be controlled. The AC controls also stopped responding properly after 10 PM, and the unit seemed to run on its own schedule. I complained more than once, but the front desk staff were dismissive, especially the woman on duty. Noise was constant. Rooms on the odd side faced freeway noise, and housekeeping slammed doors while cleaning without seeming to consider guests trying to rest. After I complained, I was moved to the 4th floor on the even side, which was worse. Avoid rooms near the elevator: the vending and ice machines are right there, and every clunk, bang, and conversation carried into Room 414. On the second night, a youth hockey team arrived. Kids kicked doors and ran through the halls after 10 PM. I reported it repeatedly with no action. Staff said only a manager could review security footage, but apparently no manager is onsite on weekends. I had to leave my room several times to tell the kids to stop myself. There was no security or management to be found.

Jordan did a great job getting breakfast ready for everyone, and the location was quiet. The eating area was freezing, though. In our room, there was dust on the fridge and microwave, and the comforter was stained.

A $4 parking charge appeared on my bill with no warning. It wasn’t posted or mentioned at check-in or checkout, and it didn’t even show on the checkout invoice. The amount itself isn’t a big deal, but we had to park far from the entrance because two large buses occupied what looked like 20-30 spaces right in front. If parking costs money, the hotel should enforce the rules when someone clearly isn’t following them or being considerate of other guests.

The staff were professional and nice, and breakfast was served with coffee available all day. The place was very clean. On the first day I had to ask for tissues because there were only two in the box, and there was no hand soap at the bathroom sink. The heater was hard to adjust: one degree up made it too hot, and one degree down made it too cold.
