Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh Downtown

The only downside was having no hotel parking. I paid $50 to use the parking garage. Otherwise, the room was clean, the staff were helpful, and it’s a nice hotel right in the middle of the steel city.

The location was excellent, but we could hear the rooms across the hall and next door through the thin walls. The heating and cooling unit in the living area of our king suite was very noisy. The garage beneath the hotel was useful, though several steps are reserved for other businesses in the building. Give your parking ticket at check-in so the charge can go on your room. They also give you a tag to put in your car, which you scan when you leave.

At 12:30 am, loud, drunk people in the room next to me were making an awful racket. The front desk wouldn’t answer the phone, so I went down to the lobby. The night clerk gave me attitude and said, “what do you want me to do about it, lady? Call the police?” Yes. Do your job. Following up, it took Lee, the front desk guy, an hour to come up and deal with it. The whole ordeal lasted 90 minutes, from midnight to 1:30 am. He said he had other guests to take care of, in the middle of the night. Completely unacceptable. Hilton management should know and train their staff better.

Amanda at reception was the best part of our trip. My best friend and I stayed a couple of nights, and she took time to explain everything we didn’t understand. She remembered us whenever she saw us, too. Amazing service. I’d definitely come back.
