Pittsburgh Marriott City Center

The one good thing is how close the hotel is to PPG, but we won't stay again. Our room was very hot because the thermostat wasn't working, so we had to call maintenance to fix it. The bathrooms are tiny, and the double beds were old, unsupportive, sagged when we slept on them, and had no mattress protectors. The maid was VERY rude. There were four of us, and I asked for four fresh towel sets, but she wouldn't hand them over until I returned all four used sets, even though one person was in the shower. We had to go into the bathroom while our friend was showering to give her the dirty towels. Then she said, rudely, “I don't know why you have to make this complicated.” The hotel only has double beds, and they need to be at least queen size.

At checkout I calmly described the dirty bathroom and poor housekeeping to the manager. She claimed staff had offered us another room the night before, but that never happened. All she did was apologize, offer breakfast vouchers again, and say she'd speak with the housekeeping manager. None of that fixed what happened during our stay. When we arrived, the toilet had visible stains, the shower curtain was stained, the tub was dirty, and the floors hadn't been cleaned properly. We later requested bed-making and fresh towels while we were out. When we returned, a “Do Not Disturb” hanger was outside the door, though neither my boyfriend nor I had put it there, and nothing had been done. He called the front desk and was told there would be an “investigation,” but we still had no clean towels. We waited about 30 minutes for a call that never came, then I went down to get the towels myself and explain again. Staff offered breakfast vouchers, which we declined, and we waited until morning to speak with a manager because none was on site. The hotel fell short on cleanliness, service, and accountability. I expected much better from a Marriott property and wouldn't recommend the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center.

I'm a frequent traveler with titanium elite status, and this hotel could use a refresh. Our room wasn't serviced on one of the two days we stayed, and the shower water was barely warm. Xiana at the front desk was the bright spot. She was very helpful and did what she could to make things right.

A package arrived late, and since we couldn't go anywhere until it showed up, the front desk gentleman let us keep the room for a few extra hours at no charge. We really appreciated his kindness. The hotel was nice enough, and I'd recommend it and stay again.
