This used to be my favorite Pittsburgh hotel, and this was my fourth visit. I travel for business and usually stay at least a week, but this trip was easily my worst here. The rooms are good; the service made the experience a disappointment. During the entire week, housekeeping came only once. When I asked for cleaning, I was told rooms are cleaned just once per week. At these rates, that policy felt unacceptable, and my room became a mess. On my previous visits I genuinely liked the hotel, but this experience changed my opinion. I also found the staff rude and unhelpful. As a returning guest, I asked for a late checkout and was told outright I had to leave by 12:30 PM. No effort was made to accommodate me or acknowledge my loyalty. The poor management and service, along with the way returning guests were treated, spoiled what should have been another enjoyable business trip. Very disappointed.

Shauni at the front desk gave me several ideas for things to do nearby, including places to eat, and was attentive and helpful. We stayed in the Strip District, so we could leave the car in the garage and walk to attractions like PPG Arena, Heinz museum and the Pirates Stadium. Parking has a nightly fee. Our room was clean and had a full-size refrigerator, microwave, stove, sink, dishwasher, silverware and dishes. Breakfast was excellent, with pulled pork, and complimentary coffee and tea available 24 x 7.

The stay was nice and the staff were very friendly. Parking was the snag: the garage entrance is extremely narrow, and no one told us there was a fee until checkout. It would've been helpful to know when booking, or at least when we got our pass. Paying wasn't a big deal, but the lack of notice was frustrating. I'd still consider staying again.

The hotel was clean and conveniently located, and the room itself was fine. But after more than 10 years as a Hilton Diamond member, I found the guest service disappointing. I requested late checkout through the app and got no response. When I asked at check-in, the exchange felt dismissive rather than welcoming. I slept a little past checkout the next day and was told I'd face extra charges if I stayed beyond 1 PM. I understand late checkout depends on availability and that policies have to be followed. Still, communication during my stay lacked the hospitality and professionalism I've come to expect from Hilton properties, and I'm unlikely to return to this location.

The breakfast at Homewood Suites was a real plus. There was a good spread of hot and cold food, from eggs, sausage and potatoes to oatmeal, fresh fruit, pastries and yogurt, with good coffee too. Everything tasted fresh, and the dining area was clean and organized. It was nice to have a full meal without going out, and seems like good value for families or business travelers.
