Our guests are still sending messages about how beautiful the venue and atmosphere were. My wife and I got married there in early August, and we were thrilled with the staff, service, and setting. Planning felt seamless, even when the to-do list seemed overwhelming. Emily on staff reassured me things would go as planned, and they did. Dale and his team at Fish Hawk Acres were also wonderful to work with. The food was the best wedding food I’ve had, built around our upbringings: southern comfort, Italian, and a Pittsburgh-themed table. I’d recommend Fish Hawk Acres for catering, and Morning Glory Inn for a wedding.

The owner came across as rude and unprofessional, but Joy and the rest of the staff were lovely. The Victorian historic home has so much character, with preserved and well-kept details throughout. Everything worked, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was the best I’ve had away from home. It’s cute and classy, and we’ll be back.

Breakfast was AMAZING, and I’d definitely stay here again. It’s a cute little place with a couple of decent guest parking spots and more parking on the street. I’ll admit, since we were the only guests that night, the old house gave off a bit of a horror movie vibe. You know, cute and innocent with that flowery wallpaper.

The patio and the gorgeous venue were what we were paying for, and having rooms right on the property was helpful for our out-of-town guests. Our family and friends loved the setting, we had a really nice day, and we still hear compliments about the wedding. I’m happy with how it turned out, but I wouldn’t choose this place again or recommend it. My feelings about the owner haven’t changed since our wedding last October. We got engaged in August and married in October, so the quick turnaround was a big reason we picked the venue. Dave pitched an “all included unique” wedding package, but three things upset me. First, Dave was forgetful and had a bad attitude. He was rude to my mother, forgot who my husband and I were despite several meetings, and negotiating costs and services was a nightmare. Second, he pushed Dale’s catering. Dale was pleasant and the food was excellent, but he didn’t show up on our wedding day. I had bought and paid for specific colored napkins and silverware, but his staff hadn’t been told and didn’t use them. Dave doesn’t allow glass or straws, so keep that in mind when looking at Dale’s prices and expecting a fancy picnic rather than a wedding. Third, they said they were “dog friendly,” which was a major reason we chose the place because I wanted our dog at the wedding. After the event, when my husband and I had been drinking all day and were exhausted, Dave’s wedding coordinator cornered me in the library and said we’d owe another $200 if the dog jumped on the bed. Nobody had discussed crating the dog, though we have a crate and would have brought it. That requirement wasn’t in the contract. We had to review the contract multiple times because it kept being wrong, and we never signed it. I’m not going to spend more time bashing the place, since it’s someone’s livelihood and experiences can differ.

We’ve come back every year for our anniversary since getting married here a few years ago. They made our wedding day, and every visit since, feel incredibly special. It’s a relaxed spot for a city garden wedding, and just as lovely when you have the place to yourselves. I’d highly recommend it for an event or a getaway.
