Mother Lode Motel

After a mix-up that left me waiting an hour for my room, I came in and found the floor wet in front of the fridge. Since this was a very low-budget motel, I wasn't too bothered and put down a towel to soak it up. When the towel turned BLACK with what looked like mold, I reported it to the front desk. They accused me of causing it and kicked me out. Probably the worst hotel or motel experience you'll have. Avoid this place.

They refused to check us in at the motel and sent us to check in at the Gold Trail Motor Lodge instead. They changed our lodging to that hotel, rebooted us, and charged us for a second booking while trying to refund the original. Then they tried to charge a $500 pet deposit. Absolute garbage. Go anywhere else.

The rooms were good and clean, and the atmosphere was friendly. Nothing fancy, but there's a great pool! Divya was courteous and helpful. I'll be going back.

I was left feeling cheated. My choices were Mother Lode Motel and Gold Trail Motor Lodge, and I picked Mother Lode because it had better reviews, even though it cost more. When we arrived late at night, check-in was at Gold Trail, which was fine, but then they put us in a Gold Trail room. The desk clerk insisted the rooms were interchangeable because the same people own both places. It wasn't advertised that way, and I paid about $20 extra for that room. We only stayed one night and it was too cold to swim, but I would've been mad if we'd visited in summer and had to drive down the hill to use the pool at Mother Lode. The whole setup felt shady. The room was reasonably clean and the bed was pretty comfortable, but the room was very run down. There were poor patch jobs in the wall, splintering furniture, and an incredibly odd closet that was like a hallway leading nowhere, with a top shelf in the middle. For a cheap motel, the room was about what you'd expect. My real problem was paying for one motel and being put in the other.
