We got the presidential suite without realizing what we’d reserved, and it was amazing. The room was spotless, and the hot tub was clean and hot. The instructions were there, but we still needed help, so we called the desk and they helped right away. That was our mistake, not the hotel’s. We’d also been screwed over by Grubhub, and the staff were really compassionate. They were super kind throughout. I have a thing about airplanes and was amazed that I could see them but not hear them. I’d love to stay here forever, but obviously can’t. We’ll definitely be back for this suite.

I’ve stayed here several times and the service has always been great. They’re one of the few places that serves a hot breakfast every day. Whenever I’ve had any kind of room problem, they’ve been quick to address it and find a solution. Teresa is especially friendly and kind. She likes chatting with guests and makes you feel welcome. I highly recommend the place.

We spent over three hours in below-freezing weather trying to sort this out, and the whole experience was traumatic. A bed bug bit my wife, who is six months pregnant, and woke us around 2:30-3 a.m. Our five-year-old daughter was in the same bed but thankfully wasn’t affected. We went to the front desk and Nancy said we couldn’t get a refund because we’d booked through a third party. She offered to move us, but after that we didn’t want to stay there. We sat in the parking lot for an hour dealing with Hotels.com, then started the drive home, over an hour away, even though it was only night one of a two-night stay. About half an hour into the drive, Hotels.com mentioned relocating us so we wouldn’t have to drive home and then back in a few hours for our daughter’s planned children’s museum trip. We pulled over and stayed on hold until we got moved to a better location and checked into a room at 6:30 a.m. We’d spent all that time in the cold or running the car and wasting gas while waiting for a resolution. When we checked in, we’d inspected the beds as usual because we’d heard the horror stories. We didn’t see anything then, though the bed my wife was going to use looked like its linens might not have been changed. The front desk told me the GM, Gabbie, would call the next day. When I woke at noon after little rest, with nightmares about bed bugs and jumping at every little itch, I still hadn’t heard from her. We had to get ready for the museum, so I called the hotel and finally spoke to Gabbie. She said pest control had come and found no infestation, that this was just part of staying in a hotel, and seemed very unsympathetic. She said she’d refund the stay, and there was nothing else they could do since no more live bugs were found. We’d already lost time and gas and felt badly shaken. I wouldn’t risk staying here. If there was one bug, I’m sure there were more. Update: I’m trying to find a way to upload our photos as proof.

The price was good, and they had rooms even on a pretty busy weekend. It was a decent hotel, but it could use some renovation. There were lots of patched spots in the paint, and our bathtub had a pretty serious crack.

The pool area was disgusting. Paint was flaking off the bottom, with hard chips floating around, and my daughter cut her toe on one. There was a lot of hair in the water, chunks of ceiling fell into the pool, and mold covered the pool area. The hot tub had chipped paint and grimy walls, and green mold filled the cracks in the bricks around the pool. The jets weren’t running, so the hair and bits just sat there. If they aren’t going to clean or maintain the pool, they should close it. Our room was in awful shape too. The bathroom had rust, mold, and bad caulking, and its door was cracked and broken. Carpet was lifting near the entrance, enough that my four-year-old cut her toe walking around. The closet door had come off its track and swung out, and the bottom of the main door bent outward and could cut someone’s toe. It felt gross in there, like the house I once rented from a slumlord. The front desk experience was poor as well. I arrived around 3:30 p.m. and waited nearly ten minutes while someone behind the desk scrolled on their phone and apparently couldn’t help. I’d already checked in online and just needed the keys. The woman who eventually helped me was kind, and some of the cleaning staff smiled and were pleasant, though others weren’t so kind. The lobby was nicely kept and had a beautiful light fixture, but that doesn’t make up for the condition of the parts that matter. At least there were no bugs in the room, so I’m giving two stars instead of one. I will not stay here again. Pick a different hotel in the area.
