SpringHill Suites by Marriott Indianapolis Airport/Plainfield

Online check-in and the mobile key were handy, and getting in early without a fee was a nice bonus. The room itself was nice, and staff earlier in the day had asked how they could help with our small birthday gathering. After swimming from 4 to 6 PM, we went back to eat and sing Happy Birthday. At about 6:40, the overnight front desk employee knocked, said there had been complaints about our room and several others, then came inside without being invited and told us to quiet down. Quiet hours weren’t until 10 PM. I stayed polite and said okay. There were several birthday groups on our hallway, so the hotel could have grouped them together and away from guests seeking quiet instead of singling us out. After cupcakes, we went back to the pool. The employee came in about every 20 minutes to watch us, which felt uncomfortable and unnecessary, and even told a child not to squeal. At 9:30 she said we had only 10 minutes left so the pool could be cleaned, though it was scheduled to close at 10. We should have been able to swim until closing. The room was good, but this employee’s rude, aggressive, inconsiderate behavior made us feel unwelcome and ruined the celebration. I wouldn’t return unless management addresses her conduct and customer service.

The new look is nice, and I’d stay again if I needed to. All the front desk staff I met across shifts were great. Since it’s a remodeled hotel, though, we ran into clogged sinks, and the pillows felt toddler-sized. It’s also a long way from a lot of places. We needed a mall and had to drive 40 minutes to reach one.

Convenient location, but cleanliness was a concern, and unfortunately I got bitten by what I believe were bed bugs. I contacted management, but she said the bites weren’t from bed bugs. I hadn’t had any problems before staying here.

The room had a strong smoke smell, and the hallway carpet was badly worn. The room amenities looked nicely renovated, though the shower was old. Breakfast could use more variety and some fresh fruit.
