The room had just one office-style chair and nowhere else to sit, with dim overhead lights and no lamps. Reading meant sitting in the bathroom, where the light was best, and watching TV was a hassle because it took a whole list of instructions to get it working. The stairs were old, narrow, steep, and exhausting. That alone would keep me from coming back. The dog barking was frightening, and I was ready to defend myself before realizing it was in the office, banging and scratching at the door. It woke us several times during the night too. The room was clean and the location was good, but the stay was disappointing and uncomfortable. I won’t return.

For our wedding at the Sanctuary, we booked the whole S Building at the Plainfield Inn, and it worked out beautifully. Every room was clean, the beds were very comfortable, and guests appreciated having their own bathrooms. They enjoyed the stay as much as we did. The staff were welcoming, and Justin was especially easy to work with, helpful, responsive, and relaxed throughout. A full-size kitchen fridge would’ve been the one improvement, but otherwise everything was perfect.

For my daughter’s bachelorette celebration in Plainfield on Saturday, July 19, some of us stayed at The Plainfield Inn. It was beautiful, spotless, and updated, and the beds were comfortable. Justin kindly arranged for our group to be in the same building. It’s an easy walk to downtown shops and bars, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay. It’ll exceed your expectations.

We stayed at The Plainfield Inn for a second time on 6-28-25 and had a much better visit this time. The rooms are updated, clean, and homey, and it’s easy to get to downtown shops and restaurants. It also costs less than the chain hotels. We’d be glad to come back.

The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Entry by key code was easy and convenient, and the location was excellent. The only snag was that the soap and shampoo dispensers were empty, so I had to go buy some. I usually bring my own, but the listing said they were provided. It’s a lovely place, and I’ll stay again.
