Sleep Inn & Suites Pleasant Hill - Des Moines

I come here every week for work, and the room itself is okay, but the whole property needs a proper cleaning and an update. The front desk staff aren't very friendly either. My room had no Kleenex, and when I asked for a box, the woman said she didn't feel like getting up to get one. The hot tub has been out of order for a couple of months, with no explanation, and the rate keeps changing even though I stay here for business. They really need to improve the cleanliness and service and get the hot tub fixed.

The pizza night in the breakfast area sums up the welcome we got. Our group asked if we could eat there one evening, and after a lot of negotiating they reluctantly said yes, as long as we cleaned everything ourselves and carried our trash out to the dumpster. We were handed a rag and left to it. The pool was another letdown. It was 64 degrees, while the hot tub was only 98, and management wouldn't raise the heat when we asked. The kids were fine, but the adults huddled in hoodies and towels. They also ban every kind of drink in the pool area. I understand no glass and can live with no food, but not even a drink while watching the kids? Between the cold and the rule, it wasn't much fun. It's a budget hotel, so maybe you get what you pay for. Just expect a cold pool and a chilly reception.

Some of the staff were really friendly, though others didn't even seem to notice me. The breakfast was enjoyable, and I was quite and I did enjoy the breakfast. The beds were very hard, one sheet had a brownish stain, and the pool was cold. There was stuff floating in the hot tub.

The lobby looked nice and the staff were very pleasant, but the room was only semi-clean. There was sticky stuff under the TV when I turned it so my daughter could see it from the sofa bed. The carpets were stained and musty, and could have used a thorough vacuum along the edges. There were stains on my side of the king bed too. We'd expected bunk beds because that's what the listing showed, but there weren't any in the room, so we used a rollaway instead. The woman at the desk said she'd ask her manager to update the website and that others had mentioned it before. The toilet overflowed randomly, and the shampoo bottle was broken. Breakfast was okay. It was cheap and we only stayed one night, but we won't return.
