Best Western Plus Atlantic City West Extended Stay & Suites

The hotel I was headed to cancelled when I was halfway there, so I called Best Western. Howard at the front desk was quick and helpful. It was a very last-minute booking, and I don't smoke, but they only had a smoking room. It had a queen bed and a Jacuzzi tub for my wife and me, so I wasn't complaining. The service was so good I left a five-star review before even sleeping there. The beds are comfortable, but the AC only keeps the room cool, not cold. Breakfast was great, with an awesome selection.

The room was clean, but the rest of the stay wasn't great. We were in the area for a friend's birthday and stayed overnight to avoid driving home late. We had read positive reviews, so expected a better experience. Our ground-floor room had a large window facing the parking lot, and the drapes wouldn't close all the way. Someone outside could look straight in. The AC was loud and kept cycling on and off all night, which was annoying. The shower drain was broken, so water collected around our feet while we showered. There was a little coffee machine, but you had to keep holding its button down until the coffee finished brewing, or it shut off.

I just feel disgusted lying in this bed, and can't wait to leave tomorrow. The carpet is dirty, and the old, itchy blanket between the sheets didn't feel clean. The housekeeping cart had no blankets, so I doubt it gets changed between guests. The pool was dirty and had no clean towels stocked. Someone's weave was left on a table, with strands floating in the pool all day. Our room wasn't cleaned while we were out, either. When I politely called the manager to ask for clean towels, he said we'd have to get them at the front desk; they wouldn't bring them to us. The place is outdated. Never again.

The staff were really helpful, and we enjoyed the indoor pool and fitness room. There are lots of stores nearby, it's convenient for many things, and it's very close to the Atlantic City casinos. The place was nice overall and I'd recommend it. The room had cooking facilities, but bring your own pots and utensils. We had trouble with a broken safe, and the Jacuzzi wasn't clean.
