Tidepools was a highlight. The food was fresh and well prepared, and the service was top notch. Honolulu coffee shop was great too, with friendly, professional baristas and good espresso. At the pools and beach, nachos and poke tuna from Captains bar were solid choices. The luau food was mediocre, though, and dessert ran out before anyone at our table had finished eating. The entertainers and upbeat musicians made the show enjoyable despite that. The grounds were beautifully maintained, the facilities were excellent, and staff were helpful throughout. We borrowed bikes to ride around and tried a few small classes and activities. The resort is at the edge of town near a golf course, with plenty to do nearby. The location is great, and the beach is nice, though the pool water can be chilly. The sand pool wasn't always clean, which seemed tied to inconsiderate guests. Signs said the adult pools and lazy river were for adults, but one father repeatedly brought toddlers in diapers and arm floats there. Our room was clean, but the mini fridge barely cooled anything. We had to get ice daily and pack it around our food and drinks in zip lock bags, turning the fridge into an awkward cooler. Recommended.

The Sheraton Resort Kauai gave us better value and hospitality, with more updated, comfortable rooms, accessible grounds, and a beach you could swim at. Looking back, we regret choosing the Grand Hyatt for our honeymoon and won't return. Our stay had been meant to be a special luxury experience. We upgraded at check-in and tipped generously, and while a few employees were kind, the service overall and management's response left a poor impression. After an unexpected airline delay canceled our return flight and moved it to the next day, we asked to extend by one night. They quoted nearly $1,200 for a standard room facing the parking lot, with no flexibility or effort to accommodate us despite what we'd already spent. The property also didn't live up to its luxury branding or prices. The rooms and bathrooms felt outdated, and parts of the resort lacked the comfort and quality we expected.

Kristine and the guest experience team made my wife's 40th birthday feel unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us like VIPs and added thoughtful touches that made us feel special. The grounds are beautiful, and the resort has great amenities. We especially liked the yoga classes and fitness facilities. We had a wonderful stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa in Poipu and would recommend it for a luxurious getaway with warm, attentive service.

Robin made our six days and five nights especially memorable. Even on his first day in the Grand Club, he showed our kids the native flower, Ginger, and made little fish from plant leaves. He included them and treated them like any other guests. It was a lovely, island-style welcome. Thanks again, Robin. There were lots of family-friendly touches: daily koi feeding, a parrot exhibit, and books and puzzles to borrow at the cultural centre. We found plenty of complimentary lounge chairs by the lagoon and pools. The lazy river was a little overrated, but we enjoyed the stay and are eager to come back. The L'uau was worth attending, with great entertainment, pretty good food, and an open bar. Our partial ocean-view room was spacious. The bathtub could use an upgrade, the chain lock was loose with a screw sticking out, and we would have preferred four pillows per bed instead of three. The valet, front desk, and Grand Club staff were phenomenal.

Our kids found someone's lost ring during our last visit, and the hotel went out of its way to thank them for their effort. The pools and lagoon make this place special for the whole family. The staff made the stay wonderful, and the Grand Hyatt Kauai will always mean a lot to us.
