Sheraton Kauai Resort Villas

The rooms and location were great, and the staff were friendly, but the fee situation felt deceptive. I booked well ahead and budgeted based on the website’s bold outlined notice saying there were no resort fees. At arrival, I was told I owed $40 per room per day on top of the booking. They pointed to fine print that lets them change fees at any time. As of this review, the main page still says there are no resort fees. Charging one after advertising otherwise is unacceptable.

The grounds, restaurants, and facilities were nice, but I was charged a $40 daily parking fee just days before my Hawaii trip. I’d booked months earlier with free parking, and the reservation was nonrefundable, so I couldn’t cancel or change it. When I called the hotel to ask about the charge, the agent wanted to talk about future vacation deals instead. I got disconnected while trying to be transferred to the front desk.

We had a clean, spacious two-bedroom, two-bath condo with a kitchen at the Sheraton on Kauai. It was well located, with plenty of places to eat and shop within a 15-minute trip. A great place to stay.

The two-bedroom villa was very nice, but check-in was a mess. We arrived at 4 p.m. to a line that took 45 minutes, with just one person checking guests in while another woman stood behind a computer and ignored the queue. When we called about the stovetop, we got attitude. The concierge also said there were no kayaks to rent on Sunday because locals needed a day off, so we found kayaks ourselves. It’s a nice place, but staff need a lot of training. I’ll stay in Princeville next time.
