Sheraton Kauai Resort

The resort is clean, nicely designed, and well managed, and after four days we're glad we tried it, though it probably isn't our favorite on Kauai and we likely won't return. Service was very good all around. Our room was pleasant enough but the studio felt cramped, a bit tired, and nothing special. The worn desk is shown in the photo. Even the tiny dishwasher was one of those little annoyances that add up. We tried the island side pool, which was comfortable, though there were no services. The ocean side pool is busier and has a full bar and restaurant. The resort is a short walk from good swimming at popular Poipu Beach, and it also has its own good beach. We enjoyed both RumFire and Lava restaurants. Prices are high, as you'd expect at a beachfront resort, but we were happy to have given it a try.

The room was in rough shape and hadn’t been cleaned well, so relaxing there was difficult. Staff also seemed overwhelmed and weren’t much help with questions or concerns. I expected more from Sheraton Kauai Resort, and the stay was a real letdown. The property needs a major update and better management. I’d look elsewhere when visiting the area.

Jessica made everything feel easy. She helped us pick a great restaurant for my birthday dinner and told us about the luau. My husband and I stayed for my birthday, and the room was spotless, the staff were wonderful, and the view was beautiful. We were close to all the activities, too. Later, we visited the Big Island and realized hotel stays can be very different. This one was a memorable, enjoyable experience.

Poipu Beach is about a half-mile walk along trails from the resort, and we often saw sea turtles there. The beach right behind the resort, Kiahuna Beach, was beautiful, especially at sunrise. We also found the weather on this side of the island tended to be better than on the north side. The pool stayed clean and uncrowded, and raising a flag on our lounger to call for bar service was a fun touch. The Lava bar had very good food at surprisingly good prices. Staff were friendly and helpful, and we had an amazing vacation. We’ve decided to come back and highly recommend it.
