Clarks Inn Savannah Airport

There’s a lot to like for the price, and I’d stay HERE again. The location makes it easy to spend a few days exploring without spending a fortune. It felt safe, there’s one Tesla charger, and the pet fee is reasonable. Clarks Inn aka Cottonwood Suites has some affiliation with Wyndham, so I’m glad to earn more points while saving money. It feels like a family-run effort to bring a diamond in the rough back to life, and the renovation is moving at a snail’s pace. The place can feel like a creepy, old, vacant conference center, but it’s open, clean, occupied, and staffed by nice people who seem to be trying to make it work. The pool area is beautiful, with nicer loungers and a pergola lit by twinkle lights at night, and the pool was sparkling clean. Common areas have polished concrete, terrazzo, or new carpet in excellent shape. In the rooms, the bed linens were clean, pet-friendly flooring has replaced old carpet, and some updates include modern cabinetry and headboards. There’s also a mismatched old Corian sink area, stained and uneven caulk in the walk-in shower, and curtains that look like they were washed and rehung wrinkled. Paint touch-ups were incomplete and poorly done. My room had an ironing board, microwave, coffee maker, heat and AC, adjustable lights, outlets, and USB ports. Breakfast was the usual hotel spread of eggs, sausage, cereal, waffles, fruit, and yogurt, with surprisingly good coffee. Shawn carefully runs it, and his omelette station is open on weekends. Nearby, you could pay $30 more at a Laquinta for matching toiletries, or spend the same at a Microtel, but I’d choose this place again. It’s a quick 15-minute drive to historic Savannah, or 20 minutes to the river walk, East Bay St, and metered parking.

My family and I had a lovely three-day stay, with lots of shopping nearby. Shaun, the morning waiter, was amazing, always in a great mood and making the best omelets. The rest of breakfast was very nice too. The receptionist was kind and gave us very good service. I recommend it to others.

It was a good stay for the price, and downtown is less than 20 minutes away. The bed was comfortable, but the best part of breakfast was Chef Shaun making omelettes. He was warm and cheerful, seemed so happy, and had good music playing behind his station. We loved waking up to that.

I picked this hotel after reading about the handmade omelettes, and my first breakfast here confirmed I’d made the right call. Shaun was an amazing host, full of energy and clearly a hard worker. He’s awesome.
