La Quinta Inn & Suites Dallas DFW Airport North

Being close to the airport made the location very convenient. The room was clean and generally well maintained, though the lack of carpet made it echo. The bathroom felt somewhat dated, and the shower door wouldn't stay closed properly. The night-shift front desk agent was adequate but not especially welcoming. She was also wearing a plain Champion© t-shirt, which seemed somewhat unprofessional for a hospitality setting. I'd give the room four stars.

The location near the airport made getting around easy, and the room was tidy, very clean, and had a lovely fresh, clean smell. I did have an uncomfortable interaction when my child, who is afraid of the insects near plants, got worried about what looked like large mosquitoes or harmless beetles. I asked a gentleman in the hallway with a yellow cart to help get it out of the room, but he replied in an annoyed tone that it wasn't his responsibility and he'd send maintenance when it was their turn. I don't think that attitude was appropriate for helping a guest. I then asked a waitress her name, and she told me it was Fernando. I mention this so the hotel can improve its customer care in situations like this. Otherwise, there are many good things about the hotel, and I hope they improve that part of the service.

The King Suite was okay, and the lady at reception was really kind. She moved me because the first room smelled like a smokehouse, even though the hotel is smoke-free. My problem is the $5 daily charge for regular-speed internet. I paid nearly $500 for two nights, and charging extra for something as basic as internet feels like management is looking for every chance to bill guests more. It isn't about the staff or cleanliness. It's a matter of principle, and a reason I'll never book here again.

For a long layover from DFW, this was good value and comfortable. The clean room felt safe and suited what I needed. The shuttle was unreliable for me: I waited 45 minutes for one to the hotel, saw it drive past without stopping, and took an Uber instead. The airport shuttle has a sign-up sheet with 10 spots per time slot. It would help if the reservation email included a picture of the van, which would have made that part easier. I'd stay again, knowing I might need an Uber if the shuttle schedule doesn't work.
