Red Lion Hotel Port Angeles Harbor

The semi-attached restaurant was handy, and we enjoyed both breakfast there and the happy hour special. Helpful reception staff, and Jonathan's assistance was appreciated. We stayed on the second floor of the main building, facing the water. The room was large and quiet, seemed recently renovated, and had lots of useful outlets for charging. We loved the balcony and the coastal walking path. The view was amazing, it was peaceful, and restaurants and the ferry were an easy walk away. The national park headquarters and hiking were a quick drive. The pool and hot tub were under maintenance and didn't look very inviting, though we weren't counting on them. A room in the smaller building or on the parking-lot side would definitely have lowered my opinion of the property.

The rooms were decent, and service was decent too. We didn't find the water-facing room anything special. It's one of the better choices in Port Angeles, and a friend had recommended it to us. During our week-long trip around the Cascades/Olympic NP area, this was the only place that didn't offer complimentary breakfast.

Desiree Forshaw at the front desk deserves special mention. We had a problem with a reservation through a third-party travel website, which was outside the hotel's control. Desiree was patient, professional, courteous, and calm, and kept us clearly updated as she worked through it. Her willingness to help turned what could have been quite stressful into a smooth, positive experience. She's a real asset to the hotel, and we're grateful for her customer service. The hotel is in a fantastic location, the rooms were exceptionally clean, modern, and comfortable, and service was outstanding throughout. We had a wonderful stay from start to finish.

Our rooms were very clean and comfortable, and for the price in a smaller town, I thought it was a solid place to get a good night's sleep. The Red Lion staff did a great job making the stay welcoming, especially considering the hotel's age. Night one was quiet and serene. The second night, the hotel was full of kids for a basketball tournament, but staff made sure we could call if things got out of hand. Fortunately, they didn't. I'd have liked more amenities, like digital device connectivity to the TV, but overall the staff handled things well.
