Royal Inn

The showerhead was held together with black tape, the carpet was filthy, there were no towels, and the ice machine was broken. The bed was awful, with burn holes in it, and it looked like the cover had never been changed. There was a terrible smell and bedbugs, too. I could keep going, but it would only upset me more. I hate having to give a star just so I can warn people about the Royal Inn. You’d be better off sleeping in your car and using public restrooms.

The toilets are so close to the wall you can’t sit on them properly, and the beds feel like sleeping on the floor. My husband stayed while working a turnaround in Port Arthur, but the room had more problems: the A/C didn’t cool it, the TV didn’t work, and the smoke detector batteries were dead. He told management, but they never came to replace them, so he had to take the detector down. This motel is outdated and badly in need of repairs. I don’t understand how it gets five-star reviews. If money is tight and you’re desperate, you could stay here, but there are much better options if you can afford them.

After driving four hours, I was tired and sleepy, but the TV in my room didn’t work. I called the front desk, and they said there was nothing they could do. They also refused to refund me. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

We only needed somewhere to spend the day, and for the convenience it was worth it. It’s cheap, clean, and easy to get to.
