The lock on room 203 was my biggest concern. The deadbolt didn't line up with the striker plate, so it wouldn't work, and there was no chain latch. The handle's small lock was hard to tell was engaged, and its striker plate was attached to the frame with flimsy screws about 1/2" long. I couldn't tell if the door was secure, so I wedged an outside chair against it overnight. As a woman traveling alone, that wasn't reassuring. It's a great spot in Port Austin, with everything and the lake within walking distance. The pool was still open when I visited in shoulder season. The front desk wasn't staffed, so you call; paying by card, even with the fee, was fine, but I wasn't sure how cash payment was meant to work. Maybe a manager would come over. Parking was so-so, though there's not much they can do about it. The room had been updated sometime in the last five years or so, with vinyl plank floors and newer bedding, but it felt tired after the summer. There were several dents and big scuffs in the drywall and chips in the door trim. No table or chairs, despite a large space where one could fit. It had a standard mini fridge and microwave, and a normal number of wall outlets. The walls were paper thin. I heard people talking at normal volume outside and in other rooms, and could hear a kid wake up at 6:30 AM.
