Little Yellow Cottages

The Little Yellow Cottages are our favorite place to stay in Port Austin. They're lovely and centrally located, so people of all ages can walk or bike safely around town.

The one downside was having to bring our own bedding and towels. Otherwise, it made for a great weekend, with the Farmers Market, Putt Putt Golf, Grindstone Store Ice Cream, and a lovely pier with great water views all close by. My sister's family stayed in Cottage 2, my brother's in Cottage 3, and we were in Cottage 5. All three cottages were cute, comfortable, clean, and stocked with what we needed. They cooled very well. Out back was a really inviting campfire setup with a fire safe pit, gas and charcoal grills, and plenty of plastic chairs. There was also a patio table with four chairs and two picnic tables in the shade, with white lights strung around the area for a romantic feel.

The Little Yellow Cottages are adorable and quite a bit roomier than a hotel room, even if they are small enough to earn the word “Little.” The kitchenette had everything we needed, and the location was perfect, just a short walk from nearly everything we wanted to see and do in Port Austin. Dan and Kimberly were fantastic hosts who made sure we had what we needed. I can't wait to come back!

We enjoyed the weekend farmers market right outside and the lake just across the street. The cottages are in a great spot, within walking distance of downtown Port Austin. My husband, our two kids, ages 2 and 5, and I stayed here for the weekend. They aren't very spacious, and cooking indoors would be hard beyond basic meals. It was handy having outdoor grills, and we used the shared fire pit. I'd recommend a cottage for a couple, but four adults would find it too small to share.
