Days Inn by Wyndham Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda

The room itself was nice, but when I sat in the desk chair, it broke and a screw fell out. It seemed like an easy fix, yet they wanted to charge me. There was no ice anywhere, and no hot breakfast either because the waffle maker was broken, so the options were cereal and fruit. Those issues alone weren’t worth reviewing, since things happen. What made this the worst hotel experience of my life was Kelly at the front desk. When I tried to add a night, she was rude from the start, accused me of putting dog poop on a washcloth, and wanted to charge me for it. I explained it was chocolate from my husband’s ice cream. I managed housekeeping for four years and would never have charged a guest for chocolate on a washcloth. Kelly argued with me, treated me with hostility, refused to extend our stay, then followed me back to the room while I packed. I’m not a child, and I’m not petty or vindictive, but I was so angry I was shaking. Kelly was the tall person with short blond hair working the front desk Saturday morning, October 18, 2025, at the Days Inn on Tamiami. That treatment was so disrespectful and unprofessional that I had to write this review.

I arrived around 3 or 4 in the morning while trying to get away from an unsafe situation. They told me I’d paid for the day, not the night. I was extremely sick and had just fallen asleep when, at 11:50 a.m., the Indian woman on staff kept waiting outside my door until I came to the front to pay for the three hours I’d been there as if it were two nights. They had my card details, so I found it strange they didn’t just charge it like hotels normally do. The white bald man at the front was extremely rude and shouldn’t be working with the public. The entrance had no signs or clear indication it was the entrance. Staff hung up on me several times while I called asking where to go, and I had to sit on the sidewalk until two kind women staying there helped me find the way in. The door locks didn’t feel safe either. As a woman alone, I didn’t feel this was a safe hotel. The only people with any customer service sense were the housekeepers, who didn’t speak English.

Restaurants and shops are within walking distance, the rooms were spotless and well cared for, and the staff were amazing. I couldn’t have been happier here and would definitely come back.

Roaches! Check your bags. I’ve already found two crawling on my bathroom items. The AC doesn’t work, and there’s a moldy dehumidifier in the room. Do better.
