Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda

We booked this place for a week starting Friday 13th 2026, but there was no hot water when we arrived. Staff worked on the problem until 1 am Saturday morning, yet it still wasn’t fixed by Saturday evening. After two days without a shower, we told them we were leaving for another place. We hadn’t come just to sleep. I asked for a full refund, but they returned only part of what we paid. Now I’m going to the BBB and the Florida health department.

Our queen room was small, but still had enough space for two people, and the private bathroom was useful. It was clean, with no complaints. The hotel is close to the main road, so it was easy to get to stores, shops, food, and the main roads.

There’s plenty of parking and a handicap ramp. Keep in mind that none of the one-bed rooms, including the handicap room, has a microwave. Smoking is prohibited around the property, though there is a designated smoking area. Breakfast had pancakes, assorted fruit drinks, bagels, white and raisin bread, English muffins, coffee, yogurt, cream cheese, jelly, and peanut butter. There was no whole fruit, just fruit cups.

We left on 2/19/2026 and still had no hot water. There had been no water on 2/16, and it was meant to be back by 4:30 pm. It came on at 6, but then there was no hot water. The manager said he’d had five plumbers out with no resolution. He offered to send us to Days Inn, about 4.5 miles farther away. Unreal. Luckily, our friends let us use the shower at their RV resort for two nights.
