Sleep Inn & Suites Port Clinton

For $75, this was a reasonable place to stop, and I'd stay again when passing through. We got in very late on Sunday, October 26, while traveling with my Mom, and the front desk attendant was friendly. Choice Privileges members get a nice snack bag. Our room was small but plenty adequate and clean, with just a few dings on the furniture from ordinary wear. It didn't have a bathtub, which wasn't a problem for us, though it may matter to someone else. Breakfast ran from 6-10 and had lots of options: sausage, eggs, waffles, juice, pastries, cereal, coffee, and yogurt. There's a pool, which we didn't use, but it felt quite warm when I checked it out. The grounds also seemed well kept.

The staff were friendly except for the housekeeper in the morning, and the pool was nice, if a little chilly. Still, I won't stay again. We checked into king room 123 late, and the moldy smell was overwhelming. The carpet was stained all over, the shower felt like a time capsule, the floor was slippery, and there was pubic hair on the shower wall. The TV was tiny, maybe 20 inches, and the internet kept cutting out and resetting it, with a ten-minute wait each time. The bed was clean and comfortable. We got an extra hour for checkout, but before noon the housekeeper was knocking and saying she had only five rooms to clean and was waiting for us to leave. That felt very unprofessional. Breakfast was basic and not cooked very well.

We were all comfortable, even though my oldest daughter's half sister joined us at the last minute and I thought we'd be cramped. The two youngest girls slept on the pullout couch, the two oldest shared one bed, and I had the big bed. The room was really spacious, clean, and bug free, with a wardrobe closet, desk, separate coffee bar with microwave and coffee pot, double sinks, huge mirror, good lighting, hair dryer, and a walk-in shower with a glass door. There were plenty of outlets, including a nightstand setup with four USB ports and two regular plugs, so we could charge everything without fighting over sockets. I liked being able to control the temperature, too. Breakfast had lots of food and drinks, and the pool was very clean with comfortable water and room temperature. It's open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. The staff were friendly and helpful. It's a great value within 30 minutes of Cedar Point, and we'll stay here every time we go.

A gas station next door was handy for snacks and drinks, though the hotel has vending machines too. Our stay was great value, and we had no noise complaints. The room was very clean, with a microwave and fridge, and the shower was spacious. Staff were friendly. Breakfast had a good range, but go early if you want to avoid the crowd. The pool was clean and warm, just how I like it. We'll definitely be back.
