The room and facilities were very good, but the lack of hospitality took away from the stay. We saw only two staff members the whole time, and neither seemed welcoming. There were no greetings, not even a “good morning,” and checkout was just as lacking in courtesy. Breakfast was left on the counter without anyone there to answer questions or help guests. The room itself was excellent, spacious, clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The AC worked great, and the ceiling fan was a nice extra. We stayed at the Best Western in Port Lavaca on Saturday 6/6 and Sunday 6/7. Management should work on staff training and guest relations.

The bed was really comfortable, and the staff were kind, even if they weren’t helpful. It seemed like they were trying but didn’t have what they needed to do the job well. The hallways were dirty and there was hair in and on the bed. The soap dispenser gave only .5 grams at a time. The pipes and AC made a lot of noise that scared the kids. Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, and the TV barely worked. Breakfast was sad and boring, even for a hotel: one waffle maker with a long wait, soft grainy apples, no bread for toast, and completely stale cereal.

The place felt rundown, with gross hallways and broken elevators. The old doors wouldn’t close unless you pushed or pulled them yourself. Breakfast was subpar, and it seemed there wasn’t enough money coming in to keep the hotel or rooms maintained. The AC struggled to cool the room, so we left the ceiling fan running the whole time to move the humid air. There was barely any shower pressure, and the wall dispensers had no shampoo or conditioner. Would not recommend.

The staff were friendly and attentive throughout my stay, and the spacious rooms were comfortable and had all the amenities I needed. I especially enjoyed the swimming pool, a nice spot to relax, and breakfast each morning had plenty of tasty choices. I had a wonderful experience here, and it exceeded my expectations. I’d highly recommend it as a great place to stay.
