Quality Inn & Suites Port Lavaca Near Lighthouse B

The worst part was the smell as soon as we entered. It was musty and moldy, and stayed that way for the two days we were there. The bed and the room around it were clean, but the bathroom was a mess. We got a handicapped room for some reason, though that wasn't the problem. The sink faucet finish was crusty and gross, and the shower faucet was even worse, covered in putty and still coming loose from the wall. The tub and sink were rusty, there were holes in the wall, and the door wouldn't close no matter how we tried. You can't blame the faucets being near the sea, our relatives live there and theirs aren't gross. All in all, a disappointing stay, and I'm glad we didn't spend much time there.

The location was easy to find and near shops and places to eat. My room was neat, comfortable, and had everything I needed, while the motel itself was quiet and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful too. Good value for the price, and I'd stay again.

Edit: 01/09/2026. I went back this past weekend for a New Year's visit. The stay was comfortable and trouble-free, and the room was clean. The beds were really relaxing. There's no real breakfast at this location, but other than that it's a great spot. Edit: 04/11. The general manager called, explained what had happened, and was very apologetic. We agreed that the lack of proper communication would be addressed, so I'm changing my review. I'll be back in the next two months. That's the service you expect and receive. 🙏 There are no elevators here, so look elsewhere if you need one. The rooms weren't bad, but my family had several, and all but one had AC problems. The outside of the property is aged, though some rust is understandable so close to the ocean. The biggest problem was the man who checked us in. We had reserved a handicapped room, but he said there were no guarantees even with a reservation. We've stayed at many Quality properties across the US and had never been told that. He was rude and wouldn't listen when we explained we needed the room we had requested. We took the hit, and our family member went home. That was upsetting. I planned to follow up with Quality corporate because this man, who I believe was the owner, shouldn't have access to the Quality name. Other reviews made me think he was the same person others had complained about. I said I would avoid the property.

The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, and the hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff were welcoming, friendly, and ready to help with anything we needed. Its location was perfect for enjoying the ocean, just steps from the beach. A great stay if you want good service and to be close to the beach.
