We arrived at Barefoot Cottages to find someone already in the unit assigned to us. It was the owner, who thought someone was trying to break in and said he was ready to defend the property. We hadn’t known any of this, and felt unsafe in a situation that could have gone very badly. At 11 PM we spent more than an hour waiting in the parking lot while the management company kept us on the phone without resolving things. They eventually said they would cancel the reservation, but didn’t process it, so we had to sort it out ourselves through VRBO. Our unit was occupied, we were left stranded late at night, and management wasted our time and failed to follow through. The whole night was a nightmare. There was no urgency, accountability, or basic attention to guest safety. I’d strongly caution others considering a stay here. Competent management and guest safety should be the minimum, and we got neither.

The cottages are adorable and have lots of room inside. There are a few pools around the complex, plus hot tubs, which is a nice bonus. Best of all, BEAUTIFUL PORT ST JOE is only a few minutes away!!! :)

We come to Mexico Beach every year for my son's birthday, and he turned 12 this July. The cottage looks nice and is beautifully decorated, but the cleaning was a real letdown. There was dirt on both the upstairs and downstairs floors, hair on the master bathroom shower wall, and something sticky on the kitchen table. We also found several things in poor shape. The master bedroom door handle and front door handle were coming loose, and a whole side of the balcony screen was hanging off. The beds weren't comfortable either. The mattress felt like sleeping on the floor. I was very disappointed.

We stayed in one of the C group houses and found it cute and nicely located. The pool and hot tubs were great after a long beach day. There are carts for getting your luggage to the house, and having a washer, dryer, and full kitchen on vacation was super handy. Worth it!

We came to Port St. Joe for a wedding and stumbled on this lovely little cottage. The porch was my favorite, with just the right indoor-outdoor feel and the sound of the waves nearby. The community pool is nice, too. Inside, everything was decorated beautifully, with an elegant look and none of that cheesy beach stuff. I absolutely loved this hidden gem!
