Hyatt Place PDX Arpt Cascade Station

After a flight delay, I had a restful night here. I have multiple chemical sensitivity and mast cell activation syndrome, so scents and cleaners can hurt to breathe and make me very sick. The hotel was clean and didn’t smell, and the staff were superb. The sofa had a couple of small stains, but otherwise everything was perfect. Breakfast was tasty.

The bed was quite comfortable, and we slept really well, though it creaked a lot. We had two queen beds and chose the one that looked cleanest. The shower pressure was pretty strong too. The room worked for our quick trip, but I wouldn’t stay here for a longer visit. The area was nice and walkable, with some food options nearby. We were there for only a couple of nights. The room was usable but clearly older, and some things were damaged. I wish I’d taken pictures: the iron had a big crack and looked like its bottom might fall off. When I tried plugging something into the audio connection panel on the TV console, the whole panel came out. It didn’t work or charge anything.

I asked for a high floor away from the elevators, but got a room close enough to hear everything. I wish they’d understood what I meant. Still, it’s pretty good overall. It’s a basic Hyatt Place, but the Hyatt service makes up for that, and it’s only five minutes from the airport. Compared with the Hyatt House downtown, there’s much less traffic here, and it’s easier to get to the hospital in Vancouver and back. I can’t complain.

Dorothy and Hannah on the evening shift were the best. They made us feel like family and welcomed us so warmly. The pool was chilly, but my toddler had fun.
